E-COMMERCE AND MY EXPERIENCE IN WORKING AT AN E-COMMERCE COMPANY

This statement is given by Jeff Bezos, born on January 12, 1964, in New Mexico, the United States an American entrepreneur who played a key role in the growth of e-commerce as a founder of Amazon.com, Inc. which now sells a wide variety of products online, previously it only sold books online.

According to me, the above statement of Jeff Bezos fits perfectly in the current scenario, if he had not thought out of the box at that time when the idea of starting an e-commerce company came to him then e-commerce would not be where it is currently today.

As Amazon was growing slowly at the initial stage many other entrepreneurs also sensed the great potential in the e-commerce sector in the coming future, which we are seeing now. They understood how important it was to make their products online on a website they came to realize that selling online can make them interact with customers not only from their own country but also from all over the world.

Entrepreneurs also came to realize that they can analyse the data of buying behaviour of a customer by what the customers are purchasing and when they are purchasing more. This could help them know the trend that is going on in the market and keeping the most bought goods in stock in sufficient quantity so that they can keep the customers satisfied. E-commerce was created by keeping in mind the customers, serving them better and giving them the desired product.

Through e-commerce, it was possible to now know the feedback of a product which an entrepreneur is selling whether they like the product or not whether they are satisfied or not. E-commerce also resolved products related issues online within few minutes in which a customer could replace or return the product if the product which came is defective or not up to their desired standards, which was a completely new concept for people at that time but now people have adapted the change and now they are shopping more online.

Like Amazon many entrepreneurs have started their e-commerce companies in present-day, some entrepreneurs even have taken license from Amazon, Flipkart and many other e-commerce companies and made them legally register to sell their clients products by listing their products/ making live their products on various websites such as Amazon, Flipkart and so on by doing so these entrepreneurs are providing consultancy to the entrepreneurs who are budding or new to online selling of products basically these entrepreneurs charge small about of money as a commission for helping their clients in increasing their sales organically by using their e-commerce knowledge and keywords that are required as the main tool to make their products visible to as many customers as possible.

Like Amazon, I have also worked for an e-commerce company which is a start-up that took the license from Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and others which helps new or budding entrepreneurs to grow their business online and to maximise their profits by increased sales regardless of their age.

From my experience, I can say that e-commerce has helped these entrepreneurs to sell more and more goods online while maintaining the quality of the product so that the customer receives the good quality product within a specified time.

The place where I worked gave equal opportunities to both male and female workers their salaries and working hours were the same, working environment was also cooperative employees help each other in the work. But for female employees who were married, it was a little bit tough as work pressure was more. The number of entries which is called as listing in e-commerce language, of products was more which required a lot of time to make them live on respective websites timely which sometimes made them stay a little longer in office than the usual, which in turn affected their personal lives too in many ways like some were told to leave jobs some were having disputes at home on coming late from work and many more.

All this situation started to arise since 2020 when lockdown happened due to coronavirus, this was the first time when people were locked into their homes local shops were closed for a short period when people were not allowed to go outside their houses, they started to show interest in online websites and started purchasing more and more and this was the time when e-commerce started to see a boom in online shopping websites, which in turn impacted our organization in a big way. People were less and work was more so to deal with this our company started hiring more and more people mostly college going girls and boys as they believed that today's youth is aware of technology and online websites so by hiring them, they will have to spend less time in training them and also, they will learn the work quickly. One thing about my organization or rather I should say all e-commerce organisation are giving more opportunities to females and yes, it is a good thing and personally, I like how this sector wants women to become independent and have faith in them.

Although the e-commerce sector has seen a boom in major developed cities it still has to carve its way in small villages and less developed cities in India.

I think this can only be done by creating interactive advertisements through which people living in villages or lesser developed cities in India could relate on an emotional level. One technique of marketing can also be used that is word-of-mouth to create their interest more towards online shopping or purchasing a product. This type of advertising is free and is seen to be more effective in giving a positive response.

I would like to conclude this by saying that overall, I am highly positive that e-commerce has a bright future, as more and more people are moving digitally day by day and once the number has reached an optimum level, with the right knowledge about e-commerce and online services to people it can become a boon to mankind.
